Xcite Steps is made up of a team of the most highly trained mental health providers in San Diego County. Every new employee at Xcite Steps undergoes an intensive, 3-day, 24-hour series of in-person training modules before working with any child. Each of the three days is broken down into different topics with a combination of direct lecture training, group activities, and role-play to ensure our Interventions can generalize and apply skills learned. At the end of each training day, the trainees take a quiz, which they must pass with 95% accuracy in order to advance to the next day. After initial training is completed, all of our Interventionists are required to complete monthly on-going staff development trainings that include topics such as Differential Reinforcement, Establishing Operations, Functional Analysis, Advanced Play Skills, Behavior Mapping, Sensory Strategies, and Prompting. In addition to our rigorous training schedule, Xcite Steps conducts bi-yearly performance reviews to ensure that our Interventionists are maintaining optimal performance levels. All Xcite Steps ABA clinical staff members are trained on a wide range of evidence-based treatment modalities to utilize across settings, including:
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Behavior Modification
- Discrete Trial Training (DTT)
- Pivotal Response Training (PRT)
- Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)

In addition, upon beginning employment with Xcite Steps, and prior to any interaction with children, every staff member must undergo a full Livescan and FBI background check to be cleared for service. Xcite Steps takes great concern in the safety of their clients and takes great pride in the quality of the services provided. Each interventionist at Xcite Steps reflects those values.
