About thebigword
Previously known as the Link Up Group, thebigword was founded in 1980 by our Chairman, Larry Gould, and soon established itself as a leading recruitment and Language Service Provider (LSP). The sale of our recruitment division, in 1996, enabled us to focus solely on becoming a world-class LSP.

As we’ve grown, we’ve supported companies to deliver products to new markets; we’ve helped peacekeeping forces diffuse conflicts in war zones and we’ve supported patients and doctors at some of the most difficult and stressful times – helping to take some of the worry away.

The company has 12 offices around the world, employs over 450+ staff and a network of more than 15,000 linguists.

Every month, thebigword handles 1 million minutes of telephone interpreting, 17,000 face-to-face interpreting assignments and half a billion words of translation.

Our UK HQ is in Leeds covering two sites; Link Up House is our operational base housing our Management Team, Translation Operations and Interpreting operations colleagues. Adjacent to our HQ is thebrainworks; our purpose built, state of the art technology building. From here our Technology Teams continue to develop some of the worlds best interpreting and translation systems.

We are still family owned and family lead and have an outstanding culture and working environment which embraces individuality diversity and equality. We welcome applications from entry roles through to those who want to advance their careers.

Our Company Values make us ELITE as we strive to be the best we can in all we do:

Empowerment: We commit to always doing our best, delivering excellent results consistently
Leadership: We have the courage to shape a better future
Innovation: We look at the problem from a different angle
Trustworthy: We always tell the truth
Excellence: We empower our teams to make decisions
