jane’s story
Dermalogica’s story is really the story of our founder, Jane Wurwand. And Jane’s story started with the five most important words she would ever hear, from her mother: “Learn how to do something.”
So she learned how to disrupt the skin care industry –”¯by training hundreds of thousands of professional skin therapists. Within a few years, she began building the number one brand in the professional skincare industry.
Founded on Jane’s belief in the power of skills-based professional training and high-quality skin care, Dermalogica would go on to create such demand that The Sunday Times of London ran a four-page article – titled “The Woman Who Started a Cult.”
skin in the game
Our founder's inspiring story + guide to becoming the entrepreneur of your life.
Jane Wurwand used what she learned about herself to see an opportunity that everyone else had missed –”¯and built a skin care empire in the process. The lessons she learned along the way help you identify your unique traits, find your authenticity, seize your potential, and truly live your biggest life.
Most importantly, Skin in The Game allows you to look toward a new future – confident in the choices you are making in your life, in your career, and in your impact on the world.

our common purpose
From day one at Dermalogica, you’ll find a common purpose linking every employee: bringing respect and success to the professional skin therapist through top-quality education, innovative products, and outstanding customer service. We focus on skin health and products that truly deliver, not false "beauty" claims or miracle cures. Our industry is full of women entrepreneurs who choose only Dermalogica products to use professionally and sell in their business. Â They’re all trusting and partnering with you to help them reach the highest level of success in this industry.
our guiding principles
Our Guiding Principles are the compass that defines our way of working as a team.  They serve as the foundation for our continued success in the fast-changing environment.  They also make Dermalogica a  unique place to work.
1. Delegate authority -- Lead with intent at every level, set clear guardrails, divide tasks to conquer goals. Focus on the why (strategy) & guardrails, not the how.
2. Innovate in everything -- Innovation is at the heart of every part of our business. We place emphasis on always learning, and bringing new technology and best practices to every aspect of what we do. Challenging the status quo to make things better is encouraged and rewarded.
3. Switch stuff off -- We make way for innovation by eliminating what no longer serves us (or our customers). Our teams prioritize purpose over process.
4. Compare relentlessly -- We listen to our customers. Â We try, test, and iterate nimbly. Failure is an analytical learning opportunity. We strive for constant progress rather than perfection.
5. Live the brand codes & the compass -- Bring the brand to life at every touchpoint with the Brand Codes. Ensure everything delivers the compass: Education, Personalization, Human Touch
our social impact
Every year, Dermalogica's social impact programs have supported future industry professionals through scholarships, mentorships, and skills training.
We know that when a person has a skillset they carry in their hands, they have the opportunity to own their future. Dermalogica founder Jane Wurwand learned this as a child when her mum was suddenly widowed and financially responsible for her household. And we see this today through the thousands of skin therapists we train every year.
That's why, as part of our commitment to empowering skin therapists to unleash their potential, we support professional grade skillset training in underserved communities worldwide.
here are some of our partners
Beauty Changes Lives

Justice & Soul
Justice and Soul empowers trafficked and at-risk young women and men to become confident and self-sufficient individuals through professional training in cosmetology. Our annual contributions support organizational operations, training and development, and stipends for students in the program.
Invest in Her Potential
Invest in Her Potential is a non-profit offering full skin therapist certification scholarships for women from underserved provinces in Vietnam.
