About Homes for the Homeless
Since 1986, HFH has been providing families experiencing homelessness with more than just a place to sleep. Each of our HFH Family Residences, located in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens, offers on-site childcare, afterschool, employment training, and social services intended to ensure a holistic and community-oriented support system for our families. On any given night, HFH serves approximately 610 families, with 700 children.
Why Join Us
From Case Managers and Safety Aides to After-School Teachers and Porters, our staff work together to ensure a safe and supportive environment for families at HFH. In addition to on-site early childhood, after-school, and social services, each HFH Family Residence features its own unique slate of programming for both parents and children. Many of our programs are also open to the local community.
Our Sites & Programming
At Allie’s Place Family Residence in the Bronx, our culinary staff provide high-quality training to adult students at HFH’s state-of-the-art Center for Culinary Education & Employment. Recently these job trainings were opened to members of the surrounding community. At Saratoga Family Residence in Queens, after-school facilities include a basketball court, computer lab, garden, and extensive programming space.

Other HFH on-site programs include childcare, housing assistance, case management, adult education, parenting workshops, career training, support groups, and recreation activities.
