About World Food Programme
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.
Company OverviewThe World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. In October 2020, the United Nations World Food Programme was named the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate in recognition of its work addressing the link between conflict and hunger.
The World Food Programme’s presence in the Philippines is constantly evolving. From initially re-establishing in 2006 to support the peace process in Mindanao, providing life-saving food assistance in emergencies and disasters, improving the nutrition of tens of thousands of vulnerable populations, to development programmes that seek to improve the overall quality of life of the people it serves.
WFP’s portfolio of activities outlined in its five-year Country Strategic Plan (2018-2023) is designed to improve long term food and nutrition security, reduce malnutrition while building the resilience of vulnerable populations to frequent natural hazards and shocks. WFP is doing this by working closely with the Government of the Philippines, other United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations and communities. Deploying innovative initiatives and tools which support national systems including emergency response and social protection, WFP will directly contribute to the achievement of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, Philippine Framework for Sustainable Development (PFSD) 2019-2023 and SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

WFP is best known for its life-saving work in emergencies.”‹ When disaster strikes, WFP gets vital food and non-food assistance to people in need. ”‹The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable can access the nutritious food they need.
WFP employs some 16,000 people around the world and recruiting the right people is fundamental to its continued success. In the Philippines, WFP operates from its offices in Metro Manila and Cotabato City, with a presence in Iligan City. WFP is committed to improve long-term food and nutrition security, reduce malnutrition while building the resilience of vulnerable populations in the country.
As the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) started the challenging, yet rewarding journey towards becoming a more self-reliant, food secure, and resilient region, WFP recognizes the opportunities that foster our decades-long partnership in ensuring that no one gets left behind. WFP’s constant commitment to support BARMM is embedded in its five-year Country Strategic Plan (2018-2023) for now more than ever, the link between conflict and hunger is more eminent and the critical role that food and nutrition plays in supporting the first step towards peace and stability.
We seek individuals who are responsive, skilled, and partnership-oriented to serve the hungry poor and combat global hunger.
Join us in Saving and Changing Filipino lives.
