Founded in 1981, Dayton Freight is a private, union-free LTL (less-than-truckload) freight carrier headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. With 60 Service Centers in the Midwest region, Dayton Freight offers shippers 1 or 2 day service to thousands of points throughout a 14 state area. Dock To Driver Program
While growing our driver work force is a priority for Dayton Freight, recruiting and hiring quality driver candidates is one of the biggest challenges we face. We also recognize that our best employees want an opportunity for job advancement within our Company.
What better way to grow our driver work force than to develop our own dedicated employees!
We’ve found that one of the best ways to do this is through our Dock to Driver Program. Currently, 432 Dockworkers have graduated from this program. Our existing driver group embraces this program and welcomes our former Dockworkers at the highest level of teamwork and professionalism. This truly shows their commitment to The Dayton Difference.
Developing Future Leaders
Dayton Freight’s recruiting team participates in and sponsors various Career Fairs, Student Organizations and Athletic Programs in our 13-state region. Our goal is to create awareness of our Company and educate students about a potential future with Dayton Freight. There are multiple employment opportunities available for students during the summer, the school year or post-graduation.
Our Management Trainee Program is offered to recently graduated individuals twice a year. This full-time position offers hands-on exposure to virtually all positions at our Service Centers and Corporate Office. Upon completion of the program, Management Trainees are fully prepared to assume a leadership role within the Company.
The Management Internship Program is for currently enrolled college students who want to learn more about the transportation industry. During the summer, students participate in a 9-week internship where they have the opportunity to contribute to the success of a Service Center through learning and understanding each position’s operations and functions. Individuals who successfully complete this program, and have a sincere interest in Dayton Freight, will be considered for the Management Training Program upon completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
