WPS is a leading independent publisher of educational and psychological assessments and related intervention resources. With more than 70 years of experience, we’ve built a global reputation as assessment experts in the areas of autism, speech and language, school psychology, and occupational therapy.
We develop tests that improve clinical evaluation, inform diagnosis, and guide therapy. In doing so, we foster personal connections between authors and the clinicians, educators, and researchers who use their tests. When we develop a new test, we bring an author’s idea to life, answer a researcher’s question, meet a clinician’s need, and, ideally, change an individual’s life for the better.

Be Optimistic
Everything we do begins with attitude. And at WPS, we choose a positive outlook. Optimism is what allows us to persist, to be resilient, and to inspire those around us.
Show That You Care
Little things can make a big difference. A little help. A little pat on the back. A little extra effort. Because we genuinely care about our colleagues and about those we serve, we show it—in everything we do.
Build Relationships That Last
We’re a family-owned company, a place where people can build a career. We play well with others. We value people and cultivate lasting relationships with employees, vendors, authors, customers, and advisors.
Challenge Yourself to Grow and Learn
We believe in continual improvement—personal and professional—and we’re secure enough to acknowledge that there’s always room for it. We seek out knowledge and have a thirst to learn more.
Strive for Balance
We enjoy the satisfaction of working hard and the pleasure of relaxation. As a family company, we understand the importance of spending time with loved ones and the happiness we derive from that. It is this happiness that propels our passion, our enthusiasm, and our hard work.
Be Resourceful and Take Initiative
We pursue ideas with vigor and take personal ownership for solving problems. It’s our responsibility to create our place on the team and to make a contribution that counts.
Collaborate Openly and Honestly
No individual has all the answers. We solve problems by communicating with each other and working together. We listen, we ask questions, and we approach our collaborations with compassion, empathy, and trust.

WPS is a stable, successful company engaged in work that makes a difference in people’s lives. We have the stability of a third-generation family business combined with the entrepreneurial drive of a startup. WPS is a place where people come to build careers. Many of our 100 employees have been with us for 10, 20, or even 30 years or more.
A Spirit of Caring
We are an enthusiastic bunch. As a group we share a passion for making a positive impact on children and families struggling with autism, speech and language difficulties, and other developmental challenges. We are inspired by the heroic work of our customers in dedicating their professional lives to helping others in need. We are also a thoughtful crew obsessed with decoding the patterns of human behavior. We realize this effort is at the root of what we do. It is our hope that the better we can understand why people behave as they do, the greater the impact our products and services will have.
New Era of Leadership
Jeff Manson, president and CEO of WPS and grandson of our founder, is making a big investment in the company’s future. He’s nurturing a transformative culture that encourages innovation, creativity, transparency, and collaboration. He recently moved the company to a new state-of-the-art facility in Torrance that encourages cross-department collaboration, creativity, and plenty of impromptu communications. The idea is that employees who are happy, empowered, acknowledged, and listened to will better serve the customer and the company’s goals.
Although we take our work seriously, we allow ourselves to have fun throughout the day. Our relaxed atmosphere enables us to enjoy the work we do and those we do it with. We understand that laughter and smiles are critical to creating a supportive environment that brings out the best we all have to offer.

Our StoryWestern Psychological Services (WPS) was established in 1948 in a little pink house in Los Angeles, California, not far from the local VA hospital. Dr. Morse Manson, the company founder, developed a psychological test that would help returning World War II veterans adjust to civilian life. This was the first of many psychological and educational assessments that WPS would publish over subsequent decades. With the help of his wife Kate and son Ira, Morse embarked on a journey to help people in need by providing high quality assessment tools to colleagues in education and psychology.
Sixty five years later WPS assessments are used by helping professionals throughout the world to evaluate, diagnose, and treat people in need—especially children and teens who have developmental, social, or behavioral challenges. WPS is known worldwide for industry-leading autism assessments, innovative sensory processing measures, and outstanding customer service.
That's the first part of our story: WPS is a stable, successful, family-owned company, engaged in work that we feel good about doing.
